Baby Jazz is produced by renowned composer Ng Cheuk-yin with Hong Kong jazz vocalists Sara C. and Miriam Ma, Little Flower Choir, and young singer Ng Yuet. They flew to Tokyo back in December 2025, and collaborated with award-winning Japanese recording engineer Masakazu Kimura and several top-tier jazz musicians to record the album.
The album features a mix of original nusery rhymes, jazz standards and folk songs. The vinyl is scheduled for release in the summer of 2026.
Live Studio Recording in Tokyo: Restoring the True and Authentic Essence of Music
In Christmas 2025, the team travelled to Tokyo’s Sound City recording studio to “simultaneous live recording” 12 tracks.
Ng Cheuk-yin emphasized: “With the advancement of technology, modern music production often uses electronic equipment to simulate various sounds, which unfortunately means we hear less of real instruments. Every sound on this album was recorded using authentic musical instruments and human vocals. We hope to bring children music in its purest and original form, because real sounds touch our hearts most deeply.”
The decision to travel to Tokyo for this recording was intentional; the studio features multiple chambers, allowing the singers, choir, and musicians to perform simultaneously across different chambers. This recording method captures the spontaneous interaction between the musicians and vocalists, infusing the tracks with a vibrant and live energy.

Life Education in the Recording Studio: A First Enlightenment in Jazz Music
Beyond participating in this recording session for Baby Jazz, one of the recording groups, Little Flower Choir, also holds weekly rehearsals and gives occasional performances, cultivating a well-rounded musical experience for young children.
Recording engineer Masakazu Kimura shared: ‘Children possess an incredibly rich capacity for perception and are extremely sensitive to music they encounter for the first time. Therefore, the music exposed to children during their early childhood has a profound impact on the rest of their lives. I am deeply fascinated by how these children receive their “very first experience with jazz”. Singing live in the studio alongside musicians during this session is an exceptionally rare opportunity. It is an invaluable experience for them. I also sincerely hope that when these children grow up, this album will serve as a catalyst for them to feel that music enriches their lives.’
A Collaboration Between Hong Kong and Japanese Musicians: An Audiophile-Grade New Experience in Children’s Music
The production lineup for the Baby Jazz album is star-studded. Producer Ng Cheuk-yin is a renowned composer and music producer acclaimed for his cross-genre musical creations. His iconic pop works include Hins Cheung’s Under the Sakura Tree and The Tree of a Century, and he has also composed numerous children’s songs for the Yat Yat Yat Kids Songs series.
The recording was helmed by award-winning Japanese recording master Masakazu Kimura. He has produced music for countless heavyweight Japanese artists and jazz acts, including Morning Musume, KinKi Kids, Alisa Mizuki, the legendary jazz band T-Square, and drummer Senri Kawaguchi (who performed at the 2025 Hong Kong Arts Festival). He has also worked on the soundtracks for famous anime such as Dragon Ball and Pokémon.
The band was led by Harutoshi Ito, who has collaborated with famous musicians such as Bossa Nova diva Lisa Ono.
