The Northwestern European Sound — Jazz Talk and Mini Concert

Dutch chromatic harmonica player Armand van Wijck makes modern jazz music which cannot be clearly labeled. His own unique sound and compositions represent a rough mix of Scandinavian music, free jazz and Impressionism. In this talk Armand will share his thoughts on composing and insights about working from your personal artistic strength and integrity, thereby finding your own sound in the process. This talk also addresses how music and art philosophy reflect on everyday life and vice versa. Therefore it can be inspiring as well for non-musicians and artists from other disciplines. The talk will be conducted in English, with interpretation in Cantonese.

Followed by CHI Quartet mini concert with the compostion by Armand and Tin Chi. The quartet is completed by young Dutch drum talent Django Buiting and esteemed Greek bassist Yiannis Vagianos. Both of them add extra European flavor, depth and soul to the overall band sound.

*Since there will be public event on Sunday 8th Dec, please note that The Northwestern European Sound — Jazz Talk and Mini Concert will be rescheduled to 12:00 nn to 2:00pm. We are sorry for any inconvenient caused.*
