Izumi Chloe NIKAIDO
Izumi was born in Kagoshima city, Japan. She started to play the piano at the age of 3 and self-taught piccolo when she was 11. She started learning flute after she moved to Tokyo with her family. She was educated at Kagoshima Junior College, Royal Academy of Music, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and L’ecole normale musique de Paris. Izumi was the assistant principal flute of Guangzhou Symphony orchestra (2000-2006), acting flute/piccolo of Hong Kong Sinfonietta (2006-2008).
She is currently the flute player at Duo Fluxion (2008-present) and a freelance orchestra/ensemble flute player. She has played with Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Macao Orchestra, Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, the Norrkoping Symphony Orchestra (SON), Hong Kong New Music Ensemble etc. She is a flutist at Drei (flute, cello and piano) and Trio Mazedo (two flutes and harp) since 2014. Drei has performed in Hong Kong, Japan (Tokyo, Kagoshima). Trio Mazedo was invited to perform in the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Hong Kong Institute Education etc.
